Theoretical and reality-based institutional mechanisms to overcome fraud on credence good markets with the case example of the FTX crypto exchange fraud.

Credence goods play a paramount role in our daily life. Starting with complex software with access to our phone’s sensible data, to medical treatments with experimental methods, to medical treatments with experts receiving subsidies for specific treatment quotas, to belief-systems in political and sociological ideologies. It is important in this understanding to understand what institutional mechanisms evolved in the modern times to overcome fraudulent behavior regarding credence good markets, and to, at best guarantee maximized welfare and minimized fraudulent behavior. The research question therefore will be what institutional mechanisms are in place to overcome fraudulent behavior in theory and can be seen in reality-based settings in the case example of the FTX credence good fraud.
